Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week. It was a sad week for Star Wars fans because the actor who played Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew, passed away on April 30. In his honor, I found an adorable little bat that looks like Chewbacca.

The Rufous Trident Bat looks similar to our beloved Chewy. This bat has long, silky, reddish brown to gray hair. They have a complex nose leaf, which consists of a big curved leaf in the center with extra, smaller flesh structures surrounding the middle. They also have small ears, which help give them their Star Wars look.

The Rufous Trident Bat mainly lives in western Madagascar, but it has also been found in the southeast and northeast of the island. These bats roost in large colonies of around 40,000 bats. They roost in forest areas and also in caves. They love to munch on crunchy bugs such as butterflies, moths, beetles, and other assorted insects.

If you would like to read more about the fascinating Rufous Trident bat, you can read about them here.

I hope you all have a good week. And May the 4th be with you!
